Altar Servers

If you are in 3rd Grade or above, or an interested adult please contact a priest at the rectory:  Ph: 337-0990.

From New Guidelines
Altar servers are chosen from among the faithful who display a desire to serve in a more intimate way during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is an extreme privilege to kneel so close to the altar as our loving Savior  Jesus Christ becomes truly present, body, blood, soul and divinity, at the moment of Consecration.

A server is uniquely joined in the Heavenly Supper of the Lamb and serves in the company of those eternally singing Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!  Accordingly, a server has a solemn responsibility to do all  assigned duties with attention, dignity and reverence.

The primary duty of a server is to assist the priests and deacons as the mystery of the Upper Room and Calvary becomes present again at the Consecration. Every altar server must attend every Mass they are scheduled for.

When a server cannot be present, that server must arrange for a replacement.

Altar servers are on duty from the time they enter the sanctuary at the start of Mass until they finish cleanup after the end of Mass.

Want to become an Altar Server? Inviting old and new candidates interested in Altar Service!

If you are in 3rd Grade or above, or an interested adult please contact a priest at the rectory:  Ph: 337-0990.

Bereavement Support Group

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP FOR ST. JOHN’S & TRANSFIGURATION PARISHES
Fr. Paul would like to invite anyone interested in the St. John the Baptist Parish & Transfiguration Bereavement Support Ministry on Thursday (see schedule in bulletin) at 6:30 pm in the rectory. This ministry reaches out to those in the parish who have lost a loved one through death.  Our hope is that no one has to go through this painful journey alone - that joy can return in time.
Because the death of a family member or friend confronts us with one of life’s most difficult and painful challenges, St. John & Transfiguration Bereavement

Support Committee offers the following:
· Personal follow-up contacts for a one-year period after the death.
· Masses on the Commemoration of All Souls in November of each year to remember in a special way the loved ones who died in the previous year.  Names of the deceased are recited at each of the Masses.
· Bereavement material- lending of books and tapes for use by those grieving.

Future Ministries:
  · A bereavement meal for those attending the funeral, giving the family an opportunity to gather and share memories.  (There is no cost for the bereavement dinner whether we serve 50 - 200.  Donations may be offered and are greatly appreciated.)
· Hospital visitations to those who are ill.
· Support to families when death is imminent.
· A list of support groups where the bereaved can share their experiences with others in a safe place, learn about the process of grief and be supported during a difficult time.
· A funeral preparation booklet to help readers plan the funeral rites of someone they love, and also help those who would like to plan their own funeral as a final gift to their loved ones.
